ALTERNATIVE SPRING BREAK (ASB)
This is the 13th year for the ASB program here at Central Michigan University. ASB gives students an opportunity to travel and experience an intense, weeklong service project. The ASB program has grown in its thirteen-year existence from 1 site to 13 sites including an international site (see below).

INTERNATIONAL ALTERNATIVE BREAKS
The Volunteer Center is proud to offer international volunteer opportunities through a strategic partnership with the Office of International Education. In the past few years, students have traveled to Brazil, Costa Rica, Poland /Germany and Romania to work with exciting agencies and act as ambassadors of CMU. This year, students will have the opportunity to participate in International Alternative Breaks during both spring and summer breaks.

ALTERNATIVE WEEKENDS (AW)
Alternative Weekends is a program growing in popularity each year. Students travel around Michigan and nearby Midwest states to volunteer over a Friday and Saturday night. Examples include working with Habitat for Humanity in Battle Creek and the Fowler Center in Mayville. The issues and sites for Alternative Weekends are continually changing. Approximately 6 weekend trips will be offered this academic year.

ALTERNATIVE WINTER BREAKS (AWB)
Alternative Winter Break is in its fifth year at CMU. This winter break will include approximately 5 sites. AWBs are week-long breaks held during the academic break from December to January.

ALTERNATIVE SUMMER BREAKS (ASumB)
Alternative Summer Break is a week-long service commitment. International Summer Breaks are longer, typically two weeks or more. Generally trips head out at the beginning of May and the middle of August.

Applications for Alternative Breaks are accepted on a rolling basis, generally beginning in late September or early October.
